National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC)
NCYC is an awesome three day opportunity offered biannually for high school students to explore and experience their Catholic faith through praise and worship, workshops, sacraments, service opportunities, Adoration, and Mass with 24,000 Catholic youth from all across the country. This experience gives students the opportunity to openly talk their faith in a safe and secure environment. Something the world does not offer to our youth today.
November 18th- November 21st 2015 Four of our youth and three adults traveled to Indianapolis to attend the National Catholic Youth Conference 'Here I am Lord'. Below are photos, videos, and reflections of their time there.
"The experience that I had at NCYC 2015 was unlike anything else that I have experienced in my life. I got the chance to meet so many different people and see 24,000+ teens so on fire for their faith. I loved NCYC and am really upset that 2015 is the only year that I got to attend. If someone said to me "There is another NCYC tomorrow" I would tell them that I can be packed in 20 minutes and ask when the next bus leaves. I got in front of somewhere between 3,000-6,00 people. I got the chance to introduce Steve Angrisano. It was a memory that I will carry on with me for the rest of my life. During NCYC I got the chance to further my knowledge about my faith, which was so beneficial. Also I got to meet Jason Evert, my favorite speaker every and I cried every time I saw him in person. I honestly think that it is easy to say NCYC has been the best time of my entire life. It will be hard when 2017 roles around and I am not getting on a bus to Indianapolis" -Anna Venturini
"It was a marvelous experience and I had so much fun! I hope to go again in 2 years because it was amazing: seeing over 23,00 people shouting the praises to God was awesome! At NCYC I was an Ambassador and it was a lot of fun to introduce the speakers, listen to their talks and usher people into the workshops. All around I feel different after this experience and I look forward to opportunities to share my experience with other youth in our parishes. I am so glad that I went and thank you for letting me see God and my Catholic faith in a whole new way." - Anne Couchenour
"NCYC it was one of the best times of my life. It was so amazing to see all of the kids who believe in God and were not afraid to show it. It was so exciting to meet so many people. They all were just so kind. There was nobody who was better than anybody we were all the same. We were all in the same spot to learn and gain knowledge about our God. My favorite part at NCYC has to be Joe Menendez he was best speaker I have ever gone to. I will so go back to NCYC in 2 years I would like to thank Fr. Joe, Nikki, Beth, and Megan for making NCYC possible." -Abby Pedrosky
"I thought NCYC was a great experience, the most exciting part was all the speakers. I also enjoyed being around all the Catholic teens, who were like me. I had a great time and would consider going again, even though none of my friends came. What I liked about NCYC was the singing and dancing, it made it more fun, even though I didn't dance. The hotel was very big, and I got to spend time with my new friends I made on the bus. I was really happy about the trip; even thought I didn't express it out loud that much. Thank you Mom, Father Joe, and Mrs. Couchenour for letting us go on this wonderful, and exciting trip." -Collin Pedrosky
"NCYC was a wonderful chance to see the youth of our parish to grow not just in their faith but to grow into the people that God has called them to be. I enjoyed the speakers but for me the ambassador program was where I got to see each kid become who they were made to be The ambassador program pushed each kid into a new challenge asking each kid to work in a team and to bring there gifts and talents and use them for the Glory of God! I enjoyed every minute of watching the youth grow! Thank you for an amazing opportunity." -Nikki Wallace
"The National Catholic Youth Conference has helped my faith, and spiritually grown in many ways. Each keynote speaker was sent by God, to deliver a message that spoke to my heart. Youth ministry is a challenging ministry. Being an adult helping kids with problems I am not currently faced with is challenging. The workshops, and keynote speakers helped me to see that. We all long for acceptance, even at 34 I deal with peer pressure. Seeing that has given me new opportunities to help the youth of our parishes. Watching the faith and struggles of our youth has inspired me. Given me new hope for the Catholic Church and its future. This conference has given me knowledge, hope and insight needed to reach the youth of our Parishes. Thank you for the opportunity to do this." -Megan Mahoy
